Are you looking for real estate in a town that has low crime rates, an excellent school system, and a thriving community? If so, then take a look at Wenham MA real estate. In 2010, Boston Magazine rated the community of Wenham and its neighboring town of Hamilton among the “Best Places to Live” in Massachusetts. Pay one visit to Wenham and you’ll quickly understand why this town is considered by many to be the most beautiful, most peaceful, and most desirable places to buy real estate.
The town of Wenham has been in existence since 1635. In its earlier years, Wenham was known as far away as London for the excellent quality of its ice. Apart from the ice industry, the Industrial Revolution had almost no effect on the town of Wenham. While other towns were tearing down their historic structures to make room for warehouses and factories, Wenham remained largely untouched. This has left many of the historic homes of the area intact, meaning that in terms of real estate, Wenham is the perfect place to find the historic home of your dreams. Wenham has also maintained much of its tranquility in that the rural scenery of the area has been left undisturbed. Many homes in Wenham feature stunning, open views of the local farmlands, lakes, woodlands, and tree-lined roads of the area. For a relaxing afternoon activity, residents can walk along Wenham’s main street, which affords pleasant glimpses of old homes, gardens, and the other charming landmarks of a quaint, timeless, and beautiful old town.
Another advantage of living in Wenham is the Wenham-Hamilton Regional School District. Wenham shares its school district with its neighboring town of Hamilton, along with a library, recreation department, newspaper, and commuter rail station. Consisting of Buker Elementary, Cutler Elementary, Winthrop Elementary, Miles River Middle School, and Hamilton-Wenham Regional High, the district is widely considered to be one of the best in the nation. Recently named one of the best school districts in the state of Massachusetts, it is in the top ten percent of school districts in the state. Hamilton-Wenham Regional High also has some of the highest SAT scores in the state; it also has one of the highest graduation rates at a whopping 96.8%. Wenham is also a place for higher education, as it is home to Gordon College, a private four-year Christian college.
Wenham also features several interesting points of interest, including its Wenham Historical Association and Museum. The museum features some of the many Indian artifacts that have been found in the area over the years; these artifacts are remnants of the once thriving Algonquin population that lived in the area before Wenham was settled. The town also features nearly 300 acres of parks, playgrounds, and lands designated for recreational activities, making Wenham a charming and fun place to live. Residents of Wenham are also extremely fortunate to be part of a very active and involved citizenry, who take part in regular town meetings.
On the whole, Wenham MA real estate provides great homes, located in a great place to settle.
